JWST Telescope Allocation Committee (TAC) Instructions - Cycle 1

Dated material

You are viewing content from a previous JWST Call for Proposals (CfP). For information pertaining to the current observing cycle and future CfPs, please see JWST Opportunities and Policies.

The Science Policies Group (SPG) is home to the scientific and technical staff that manages the allocation of observing time on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). The SPG conducts the process of selecting the science program for General Observers (GOs) and Archival Researchers (ARs), and establishes science metrics to evaluate success. The SPG is the point-of-contact between the James Webb Space Telescope Users Committee (JSTUC) and the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI).

The SPG's key objective is to optimize and maximize the scientific productivity of JWST. The SPG fosters the submission of the highest quality scientific programs through the identification of key scientific areas that require the investment of JWST observing time to be studied. It also fosters broad multidisciplinary and multi-observatory collaborations.
