See Guide for TAC Chairs provides an overview of roles, responsibilities, deadlines, and resources for the TAC Chairs. The Discussion Panel Meetings and Executive Committee Meetings pages describe step-by-step how the discussion panel and EC meetings will proceed.

TAC Chairs should be familiar with the Review Policies and Instructions.

During the Panel Meetings

The TAC Chair is not assigned to any Discussion Panel and does not grade Discussion Panel proposals. They participate in the Discussion Panel Meetings as Observers. This involves:

  • Moving between different topical panels (hopping between virtual calls), and observing the discussions.
  • Stepping in to chair a panel for the discussion of an individual proposal if the panel Chair and Vice Chair are both conflicted and no At Large members are available to step in to chair.

During and After the EC Meeting

The TAC Chair has the same role during the EC Meeting as the Chair during the Discussion Panel meeting. See Panel Chairs and Vice Chairs for details on roles and responsibilities before, during and after the Discussion Panel meeting, as the TAC Chair has the same role before, during, and after the EC meeting. The TAC Chair does not grade EC proposals, and is responsible for leading the EC discussion and for signing-off all the EC proposal feedback comments.
