MIRI Time-Series Observations

MIRI fully supports time-series observations (TSOs) with the imager, low-resolution spectrometer, and with the medium-resolution spectrometer only with partial pipeline support.

The stability of the JWST observatory enables very precise spectro- and imaging photometry of time-variable objects. Such TSOs will be useful for characterizing transiting exoplanets, but will also be used for other sources such as eclipsing binaries and cataclysmic variables.

MIRI currently allows for TSO observations in the following modes:

For advice on how to plan TSOs with MIRI, please see the JWST Time-Series Observations Roadmap and JWST Example Science Programs articles.
