The operational facts and features of JWST's MIRI define how its observatory-level capabilities can be applied for science.
MIRI operational capabilities
MIRI operational capabilities include pointing maneuvers such as target acquisition, dithering, and mosaics. MIRI can also be used in parallel with other JWST instruments, and can provide simultaneous imaging when using the medium resolution spectrometer (MRS). Time-series observations also available for observations of time-variable objects.
Detector operations are covered in MIRI Detector Overview.
