Levelers

Levelers monitor discussions during the panel meeting and, if necessary, encourage the panelists to focus on science in a proposal and not on the proposing team. A Leveler is assigned to each Discussion) panel.

Before getting started, familiarise yourself with the review process, JWST and its instruments, the types of proposals, and other information provided to panelists.

During this phase, you will:

  • Be a point of contact for the panel as they prepare for the meeting.

During the panel meeting, you will:

  • Monitor panel discussions.
  • Interrupt if necessary to refocus the conversation on the science, not the team.
  • Monitor team expertise discussions.
  • Inform SPG if any problems arise.

Please remember to remove review materials from your computer after the review.
